October 2009

Dear Poseyville Family:

Greetings friends,

In this article I want to emphasize discipleship. During this time of the year, with Charge Conference, etc, membership is emphasized quite a bit. However, discipleship is much more important. In the long run it doesn’t really matter if my name or your name is on a Church list somewhere. However, it really does matter how faith drives your discipleship. The brother of Jesus, James, says, ‘faith without works is, is dead.’ Therefore, let’s exercise our faith together because we are disciples, and take our faith, in terms of works, out on the ‘road’. One of the ways in which you can exercise your faith is in the Tuesday Bible discussion group. It is not overcrowded, and just like all our other activities, characters are welcome: everyone is welcome. This Fall we have discussed healthy church attributes and effective leaders. You cannot hardly have a wrong answer. The Poseyville Bible discussion group is simply looking for a few good inspired opinions or good listeners, too. Secondly, you can pray about your commitment to Christ’s ministry as a disciple in His Poseyville Church. During this season the Lay Leadership committee is considering discipleship vacancies in the Church. So, be active in prayer and let your faith drive your work (discipleship).

 Poseyville United Methodist Women

Maybe you aren't sure what United Methodist Women do? Well we would love for you to attend our next meeting, on October 8 @ 6:00 pm in the parlor. You will hear from Jane Moore, she did some mission work in Russia, and is going to share with us.
We are gearing up for Bazaar on Nov 7.
We also have a busy October, a small group of women are attending the Saginaw Bay District meeting in Roscommon on Oct 3 and we will be sending our items that were collected for God's Country mission.
We need everyone's help with the fish dinner with everyone helping we get our jobs done much faster too. So mark Oct 16 on your calendar, maybe you can't do the evening, but you might be able to help out during the day on Friday.  Please sign up.  A little help goes a long way.
Saturday October 24 we will bake cinnamon rolls for the bazaar, we will start at 8:00 am.
Prayerful consider joining our group, I promise not to make you do anything.
Donna Hillabrand/UMW President
